I lecture on a wide range of subjects in the visual arts. I have given talks on matters as diverse as Dutch Flower Painting, The Arts and Crafts Movement, Contemporary Sculpture, Italian Renaissance Landscape Painting and a two day introductory course to modern art. As an art historian, my starting point is the art object – the painting, the sculpture, the drawing – but my approach is always to create added depth by placing each subject in its historical, social, and aesthetic context. This page gives links to a few recent lectures and a fuller list of talks can be found in the drop down menu.
