The Arts and Crafts Movement: “A mighty upheaval of man’s spiritual nature”.

The Arts and Crafts Movement began as a reaction to the soulless and conformist mass production of the Industrial Revolution and rapidly influenced architecture, interior and furniture design, printing and the making of jewellery and pottery.
This lecture examines the ideas behind the movement, analyses a range of work by leading Arts and Crafts artists and shows how they aimed simultaneously at reviving the past and shaping the future.
Lecture given to The Arts Society, Wensum. November 2017
